AVON YOUTH LEAGUE U’14 CUP

SUN 25 SEPT 05

STOKE LANE ‘A’            2

FRY CLUB COLTS          1

A break from the league fixtures saw us drawn against a team that were in our division last season so we already knew enough about them to know we could win.

Despite a bright start, we conceded a goal from a set piece. A good fight back saw us create one or two chances but just before half time a second goal was scored to put us 2-0 down at the break.

A challenge was laid down to win the second half and we started far more positively, dominating large periods. Both Oli Randall and Mo Bouaziz were having good influences in midfield and from this James Boulton pulled a goal back to set up and exciting last 20 mins. A further chance was cleared off the line from James Boulton and despite our efforts, we just couldn’t score the deserved second goal to force extra time. Stoke Lane just held on for an unlikely victory.

Credit must go the players who rose to the half time challenge and almost pulled it off.

For a very good midfield performance, Man of the Match was awarded to Mo Bouaziz.

Cup run over for another year at least.
